THE SUPER COMPUTER This is an ancient AT&T 6300. More than what is needed to run the displays around the house. Each computer has it's own self starting program that runs as the machine is turned on. It is connected to a interface device through the parallel port. This device consists of a latching chip and 8 solid state relays. A DOS based program is used to control the outputs. This program reads a data file that tells it which light to turn on when. Using batch files, you can have almost an infinite number of sequences. I plan to use IBMs OS2 operating system this year on an old 486 computer and put 3 parallel ports in one machine and run 3 iterations of the program at one time. |
